Contributions to the Natural History of Australian Peregrine Falcons Falco peregrinus macropus: I. Behaviour at Two Victorian Nests

Abstract

Observations made at two Peregrine Falcon nesting localities over three breeding seasons are reported. These observations are presented according to the major events of the nesting cycle: pre-nesting, incubation, hatching, nestling and fledging periods. Additional information is provided on antagonistic behaviours and food-caching. The observations are consistent with the literature on Peregrine behaviour and, as a result, it is possible to infer the impact of human interference at one of the nesting sites.
