Abstract

This note describes true anting behaviour in the Grey-headed Robin Heteromyias cinereifrons. Anting has been recorded in many bird species and, apart from ants, also includes the use of other insects and substances. It has not been recorded in Australian Petroicidae robins previously, although it has been documented in the South Island Robin Petroica australis australis and the North Island Robin P. longipes of New Zealand.
