Hybrid Scaly-breasted x Rainbow Lorikeets

Abstract

Hybrids of Scaly-breasted x Rainbow Lorikeets have two plumage forms: Type 'A' resembling a Rainbow Lorikeet but lacking the blue belly and showing variation in head, breast and belly colouration; and Type 'B' resembling a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet but having a blue head and more yellow on breast and belly. Measurements and descriptions of museum specimens and wild hybrids are given, with a note on yellow-colour variants.
