A Fifth New South Wales Record of the Buff-breasted Sandpiper Tryngites subruficollis

Abstract

A first-year Buff-breasted Sandpiper Tryngites subruficollis was observed at Bushells Lagoon, Wilberforce, New South Wales, on 14 December 2002, the fifth record of this species for the state and adding to a small cluster of records in eastern New South Wales. The sighting has been unanimously accepted by the Birds Australia Rarities Committee (BARC Case no. 366). This paper documents the occurrence.
