Abstract

Singing frequency and sightings of the Skylark Alauda arvensis and Brown Songlark Cinclorhamphus cruralis were recorded at Gatum, in western Victoria, from December 1984 to June 1988. Skylarks were present all year but were sometimes silent in late summer-autumn. Songlarks were spring-summer migrants, present but silent in early autumn and mid winter but apparently absent mid autumn-early winter.
