Abstract
While rehabilitating Sacred Kingfishers Halcyon sancta following injury, we recorded many vocalisations previously undescribed and possibly unsuspected. This paper describes eight new calls in two groups: loud calls given primarily during the day, and softer calls produced mainly during the night in a social context. It is suggested that these calls reflect a much greater level of vocal behaviour for this species than previously expected.
