Abstract

It is probable that the holotype of the Chestnut-breasted Whiteface Aphelocephala pectoralis was obtained by Frank Gibson, a rural worker (‘gentleman shepherd’) and naturalist, who collected from several localities in and beyond the Flinders Ranges, including Edeowie, ~150 km north of Port Augusta, South Australia. The type-locality is less certain, but is likely to be north of Edeowie and might therefore be close to Lyndhurst where the species can be found today.
