Abstract
A record of a Short-billed Dowitcher Limnodromus griseus caught in a cannon-net at Corner Inlet, Victoria, on 18 June 1995 was accepted by the Birds Australia Rarities Committee (Case no. 195). This is the first record of this species in Australia. Recent evidence to support this identification, as a Short-billed Dowitcher rather than a Long-billed Dowitcher L. scolopaceus, is reviewed.
