Distraction Display of the Hoary-headed Grebe

p. 42-43
Abstract
Two different distraction displays of a nesting Hoary-headed Grebe Poliocephalus poliocephalus are described. These are compared with previous descriptions of crash-diving for this species and for the New Zealand Dabchick P. rufopectus, and with the silent slipping away from the nest by Australasian Grebes Tachybaptus novaehollandiae.
