Eastern Whipbirds Psophodes olivaceus Holding and Feeding on Sunflower Seeds

Abstract

This note describes the methods used by Eastern Whipbirds Psophodes olivaceus to hold, manipulate and eat Common Sunflower Helianthus annuus seeds (grey-striped variety), based in particular on the observation of a pair of birds in far south-eastern New South Wales.
