Possible Range Expansion of Wintering Pied Harriers Circus melanoleucos into the Southern Hemisphere

Abstract

Three records of the Pied Harrier Circus melanoleucos in Sumatra, Indonesia, during the last decade (1999–2009) suggest that the recent status of this species in Sumatra is one of a possible regular visitor rather than a vagrant. These records are also a possible southern expansion of the wintering range of this species.
