Tasmanian Southern Boobooks Ninox novaeseelandiae leucopsis are smaller, darker and more spotted than those on the Australian mainland. The occasional presence on the mainland of individuals with leucopsis-like features raises the question of whether these have migrated or dispersed to the mainland.
