Christmas Island Goshawk predation on a juvenile tropicbird Phaethon sp.

Abstract

This note describes an adult Christmas Island Goshawk Accipiter hiogaster natalis feeding on a juvenile tropicbird Phaethon sp. This observation provides further insight into the little-known foraging ecology and behaviour of the Christmas Island Goshawk, and augments previous records of predation by this goshawk on seabirds and their chicks.
