Abstract

Four nesting attempts by presumably the same pair of Beach Stone-curlews Esacus neglectus are documented. Although a single chick was hatched at each of three of the nests, all the nesting attempts ultimately failed. Although the reasons for the failures were not definitively established, the possible inexperience of the birds, bad weather and human interference may all have played a part.
