Abstract
The following summary of field observations and other notes cover the area of East Gippsland that I have visited during my residence of three years in the district, from 1965 to 1967. The district included in these observations extends from Glenmaggie to Marlo, and from Mount Hotham to the coast.
Serious bushfires destroyed a wide area of forest during 1965 and 1967. Rainfall was below average in 1965, and extremely low in 1967. However, while the remainder of Victoria was in the grip of the 1967 drought, East Gippsland had sufficient rain to attract many nomadic visitors.
I have left out the usual description and map of the area, as it is widely known and need not be repeated here.
