A Victorian Record of Baird's Sandpiper

Abstract

A sight record of Baird's Sandpiper, Calidris bairdii (Coues), is reported from mid-northern Victoria, together with field notes taken at the time of the observation, and relevant general information. The sighting constitutes the second known record of Baird's Sandpiper for Australia, and is the first mainland record; the first Australian record being a specimen from Tasmania.
