Abstract

A Painted Honeyeater Grantiella picta sighted along Bell Creek, West Kimberley, on 16 May 2002, is the first published record of this species for Western Australia. The gender of this bird, which had slight streaks on the breast, belly and flanks, could not be ascertained because of variability in this character reported for different individuals.
