Jouanin's Petrel Bulweria fallax in Australia

Abstract

A record of two Jouanin's Petrels Bulweria fallax seen over continental slope waters south-west of Ashmore Reef on 15 October 2000 has been accepted by the Birds Australia Rarities Committee. This paper documents the occurrence, which is a first record for Australia, refers to other potential sightings and discusses identification criteria.
