Abstract

Observations on the White-eared Monarch Monarcha leucotis indicate that it may be an altitudinal migrant in south-eastern Queensland. Records suggest that this species is absent from high-altitude areas during the winter months, and that it may winter on the coast and return to the ranges to breed. Birds have been observed in late winter/early spring at intermediate localities, where they were subsequently absent in summer.
