Abstract

Sightings of the Black Falcon Falco subniger in South Australia indicate a southerly movement during January-April in years of abundant prey. Observations of hunting behaviour including mediated flushing, piracy and carrion feeding, are presented and a list of observed avian prey is given. Field identification and South Australian breeding distribution of the Black Falcon are discussed.
