Abstract

An annotated list is provided of birds observed within 80 km of Wittenoom, Western Australia, from January 1982 to December 1983. The study area includes the Hamersley Range National Park. One hundred and fourteen species (69 non-passerines and 45 passerines) were recorded. The list is compared with previously published lists for the region, including the National Park. The Fortescue River flats, a scarce wetland habitat in the region, appear to be very important for water birds.
