Abstract
Field surveys of the Regent Honeyeater Xanrhomyw phrygia were undertaken in areas of blossoming Red Ironbark Eucalyptus sideroxylon and other likely sites in north-central and north-eastern Victoria from late April to September 1986. A tape recording of their calls was played to attract the birds. Thirty-four Regent Honeyeaters were located at 11 sites in the Chiltern and Killawarra areas of northeastern Victoria and three were located at one site in north-central Victoria. We conclude that the Regent Honeyeater warrants its current Victorian classification of 'Endangered'.
