Details are presented of the first sighting in Australia of a Red-capped or Papuan Flowerpecker Dicaeum (pectoral) geelvinkianum on Saibai Island in Torres Strait, Queensland. This record has been accepted by the Birds Australia Rarities Committee (BARC case number 273).
